The kids and I wanted to show you teamwork in action in the kitchen today – we’re spiralizing some zoodles (zucchini noodles) with 3 different spiralizers. Watch how we set up the space and have all hands on deck, and wait until you see the mini spiralizer that’s so easy you won’t believe it!
See what we do with our zoodles and where to buy the tools we’re using here.

LIVE Demo of Kids Spiralizing
- 0:29: We get started with the OXO Spiralizer.
- It doesn’t stick to the counter as well as I would have liked because my counter is a little bit textured. We like to stick it on a cookie sheet so there’s a larger surface to hold onto and it helps catch the zoodles.
- This one comes with 3 different blades.
- 2:00: See the OXO in action! This is a great two kid job! One kid holds the spiralizer firm on a cookie sheet while another does the actual spiralizing.
- 2:55: Next we look at a Spiral Life brand spiralizer (no longer available).
- We like how this one has compartments inside the base for the blades.
- It also sticks to our countertop better than the OXO. Sometimes it helps to wet down the suction cup.
- 4:39: If your zoodles come out a bit long, use a pair of kitchen shears to cut them down.
- 7:35: We test out a sweet potato to show how different vegetables work on the spiralizer. We are using the largest blade option here which makes flat little pieces which could be baked, fried or sautéed up almost like little potato chips.
- 8:40: We show the larger spiralizing blade which makes great sweet potato fries.

Kids don’t need plastic knives. They need real skills.
Teach safe technique, focus, and confidence in the all-time fav lesson from our kids cooking class! (ages 2-12)
- 10:58: We try a carrot out. We don’t do carrots often because they’re more difficult and they’re also pretty thin so most of it goes through the hole in the blade.
- 12:18: Leah’s favorite way to shred up carrots instead of a spiralizer. Use these carrot shavings in salads or stir fries.
- 12:57: Here’s the last spiralizer. It’s a little one! (No longer made as of 2024, here is a similar one.) This one is low on set-up and storage space. If you’re interested in getting started but don’t want to invest in a larger spiralizer try one of these out!
- 13:45: See the little spiralizer in action!
- 15:01: Tip: use an old tooth brush to wash it up! Always clean right away so stuff doesn’t get dried on.
