“My boys are at an age where everything is “stupid” (11 and 13). But underneath their tough-guy attitudes, they enjoy the workshops. They watched the steak workshop and had their own grilling competition. Then they drop knowledge on the family which tells me they learn so much more than they want us to think they do.”

– LifeSkillsNow Season 4 mom, eating her steak lunch last June

Take your kids from, “I don’t know how,” to “I got this!” or at least, “What would happen if I tried?”

They watch a video, try the skill in real life, and keep building confidence all summer long (even grown-ups!).

#LifeSkillsNow Season Five Camp Leaders

Hi, I’m Katie.

I’m a mom of 4, former teacher, and I’ve been running Kitchen Stewardship since 2009 and teaching kids to cook online with Kids Cook Real Food since 2016. My oldest is engaged and my youngest is 11, so I’ve lived the whole range of “my kid needs to know how to do this before they leave.”

I started #LifeSkillsNow when I realized my cooking class families wanted more life skills. I can’t teach everything…but I know a lot of smart people (and the art of getting folks to say yes to helping kids). That first year, 25,000 families showed up. Now we’re on our fifth season and over 115,000 families have benefited!

Katie Kimball

Two things I’ll share, humbly I hope: I’ve given two TEDx talks and the Wall Street Journal recommended my kids cooking course as the best online cooking class for kids. I tell you that because I want you to trust that this isn’t a random free thing, it’s the biggest thing I do all year.

But honestly, none of that matters to you as much as the fact that I’m a real mom, just like you. There are dishes all over my counter. I have to ask my freshman son how long he’s been playing video games…twice. And I often stay up too late watching Survivor or Brooklyn 99.

But I also enjoy 3 nights a week off cooking, because my teens make full meals without help. I haven’t cleaned their bathroom in two years, and I have a 21-year-old son who owns his own business and a 17-year-old daughter with a budget spreadsheet that would make you swoon.

The point is: We don’t have to be perfect, and we don’t have to do it all ourselves. If your kids listen better to someone who isn’t you, by all means hire this team of experts I’ve gathered together. We have a pretty fair rate – how about you trade your email for full access to 95+ workshops? I’ll set it up so you get a little break, and maybe even melt your heart a little as your kids exceed expectations and make you feel so, so proud.

“My boys (9 and 11) loved independently exploring the offered classes! I loved seeing the pride on their faces as they mastered ‘grown up skills’ like ironing. My 11 year old was SO EXCITED to learn from one of the camp leaders and cleaned his own room from top to bottom and had fun doing it. Sometimes our kids just need to learn from someone else.

– Erin T.

Real Mom Testimonials

You could pay big bucks for other summer camps…

LifeSkillsNow versus other summer camps cost

…but #LifeSkillsNow is totally free!

Still Have questions? Here are your answers.

What if my kids are still in school or we have a conflict during camp week?

Remember that you get 15 workshops right when you register! Use them whenever you have 10-30 minutes.

If you’d rather, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase the package to keep to use at your convenience all summer long. (Hint: watch for a discount right after you register!)

We make the videos 5-30 minutes for a couple reasons – keeping kids’ and teens’ attention and fitting skills into your busy schedule! We hear from a lot of camper fams that they’ll flip on a workshop during breakfast or lunch on free camp week. Even if your kids are running off to other camps, what if they could build FIVE productive life skills for free? It’s worth the “price” of admission to be sure.

Plus, during camp week, every workshop is available for 24 hours, so you can watch after school, after dinner, or while you drive them somewhere else. We built this for busy families.

What’s the catch? Why is it free?

I’ve been seeing some questions come from some people who can’t believe the whole summer camp is free!

“What’s the catch?” they ask.

If you were wondering the same thing, let me explain.

There really isn’t a “catch.”

The whole camp, all 95+ video workshops and downloadable handouts, is free June 8-12, 2026. Topics rotate with about 20 available on-demand every 24 hours. (You get 15 workshops to use right away, all through June.)

You’ll have to put in your email address as “payment.”

Text number is optional.

Yes, you’ll get emails about the event (but there’s always a little “skip emails until camp starts” link if it’s too much).

Yes, you’ll be offered a chance to purchase the package to keep.

If that’s not your thing, know that it’s because some people buy it that tens of thousands get to experience it all without payment. Pretty cool!

All campers get to enter for thousands of dollars in prizes with dozens of winners! 😮

Your kids and teens will be exposed to lots of new topics, challenged to DO actions in the world, and given a chance to make a lot of choices. Kids love having choices!

It’s a sweet opportunity for the whole family, and I’m glad to be able to share this with you.

Will teens really care?

This year has more teen-specific workshops than ever. Financial literacy. Cooking. Car buying. Real adulting stuff. In past seasons moms said: “My teens who normally roll their eyes at me actually watched these.” Try one and see.

Last year Isaac, age 14, said: “I was not expecting the videos to be so interesting and I learned so much.”

How long does each workshop take?

5 to 30 minutes. Most are around 10-15. Short on purpose, because your life is busy.

Is it appropriate for little ones?

Yes! Kids 5+ can watch on their own (no ads, no weird YouTube recommendations). We include family workshops you do together and cooking for everyone to enjoy.

Sarah said: “I just wanted to share that I had my doubts about this, but signed up for free access and had my 7 year old listen while he played with Legos today.”

Would this work if I have multiple kids?

Definitely! Families with kids across multiple age ranges get the most out of it. Each kid picks their own workshops, adults too, and everyone has a week packed with learning. The dinner conversations are fabulous, I hear! We make it so easy that you can just forward your registration email to any device, and your kids can just hit the “automagic” login button, no password needed, and they’re immediately inside the private member area. Hit play and go!

Do parents have to be involved?

No requirement. You can feel peaceful about your kids in a protected member area, no ads, no Internet rabbit holes, no interaction with others (except Mrs. Kimball cheering them on if they leave a review).

Many parents enjoy listening in from across the room and others look forward to spectacular dinner conversation hearing about all that their kids learned during the day from #LifeSkillsNow. Some are listening to their own Parent Professional Development Track workshops, modeling the skill of lifelong learning for their kids.

If your children are ages 5-8, we might recommend you hang with them for understanding and safety, but if they’re old enough to read and run a tablet by themselves, let them have at it!

One mom said: “I felt safe letting the kids watch even if I had to take care of the toddler or run out to the garden. I rarely do that with anything online.”

What if I live outside the US?

All workshops are recorded and available for 24 hours, so any time zone works. International families have been part of #LifeSkillsNow since season one.

Can I download the workshop videos?

During free camp week, no. But if you grab the All-Access Pass you get lifetime access to every video you want.

Would this work with a group of kids?

YES! Large families, neighborhood gatherings, daycare/summer care centers have all enjoyed our past summer camps, and this one will also work wonderfully for groups of kids…as long as they can decide which workshops they want to participate in! 🙂 PLUS gathering kids together helps keep you accountable so you don’t put off the important life skills you know you want your kids to learn…but don’t always find time for.

Will all the camp leaders (workshop teachers) get my email address?

No. We won’t give out any of your information to workshop teachers. Certain camp leaders might have freebies available that you can access by submitting your email address to the speaker directly via the directions they provide. This is completely at your discretion and on an individual basis, and we mark those “For Grown-Ups” so there’s no confusion whether kids should be hitting the button to leave the membership area.

Are you still accepting #LifeSkillsNow camp leaders?

All of our speakers/camp leaders for this year’s camp have been hand-picked and our slots are currently full. However, we’d love introductions to or recommendations for potential camp leaders for next year, Season Six! If you’re interested in being considered for next year, tap the chat icon in the corner of your screen and get in touch. If you’d like to be an affiliate for this year’s camp and beyond, anyone can sign up at any time right here: https://raisinghealthyfamilies.com/affiliate-info/

How long will it take for the summer camp?

There are over twenty workshops available each day, but a child would likely only be a fit for about 6-10 of them. Workshops themselves are 5-30 minutes long, and then implementing the action step/mission will start with 5-10 minutes. BUT some kids will want to keep going with their missions and may end up working on their gardens, cooking, budget planning, or business building all day (or all summer) long! Join us June 8-12, 2026!

How do we decide what to watch? The # of workshops feels overwhelming!

How to eat an elephant? One bite at a time. 😉

Unlike school, you don’t have any curriculum standards your kids have to meet. Start with the early access workshops and have fun all the way up to camp kickoff on June 8th with a smaller subset of topics.

We recommend printing out the camp itinerary, one for each child, and let them read titles and highlight what they’re interested in. Enjoy holistic, individualized learning at its best!!

Here’s Laura Heuseveldt from Season One (2022) on how it went for her family: “Can’t beat the flexibility and ease of crafting your own personalized, individualized, camp week. Variety of offerings also helped us to ‘try’ something new or different. The workshops were a good jumping off point and have opened doors to continued summer (all the time) projects and learning. Already looking forward to next year!”

Are the sessions live?

Nope, not at all!

We’ve found that live sessions don’t serve families – it’s too stressful to be on the call at the right time, AND kids will do much better with tightly edited, SHORT workshops. We work very hard to make everything feel smooth and easy for the grown-ups and the kids. (Plus I wouldn’t get as many high-level experts to say yes if they had to show up live, either. Win for everyone!)

You’ll get 24 hours to view each pre-recorded workshop on-demand during camp week June 8-12, 2026.

Are the videos accessible (captioned and transcribed)?

Yes, all workshop videos have closed captions available in English. Just hit the “CC” on Vimeo. Dash us an email if another languague would be helpful as it’s something we’re considering.

Transcriptions are available for non-visual workshops when you purchase the All-Access Package.

How much does summer camp cost?

This is a totally FREE event for the whole family! You’ll get exclusive access through a membership dashboard, and you can start right away with 3 Early Access workshops from this upcoming season as well as 3 each from seasons 1 through 4!

The full camp with over 95 videos is also free. Each workshop will be available for 24 hours June 8-12, 2026 to encourage you to jump in and take action. If you want to keep camp beyond the free week (or start early), you’ll be offered a chance to purchase the package at a discount as soon as you register.
