#LifeSkillsNow Mini-Series: Mastering Household Skills
Give Your Kids the Skills to Help at Home
17 short workshops that teach kids ages 2 to teen how to actually DO the chores, so you stop carrying the full load and they learn responsibility and ownership
You’ve Asked Them to Clean the Bathroom. Did You Actually Teach Them How?
Most of us hand out chores and then get frustrated with the results. The bathroom counter gets wiped, but only around the stuff still sitting on it. The laundry gets “sorted” into one pile. Somebody vacuums their bedroom and hits the string of a hoodie they didn’t move out of the way, breaking the vacuum belt. #expensive
That’s not necessarily a kid misbehaving. Maybe nobody showed them the steps, and you don’t have an education degree — where do you start?
We filmed the teaching for you! Seventeen workshops, 4 to 24 minutes each, on the chores that actually need to get done: dishes, laundry, stains, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, bathrooms, bedrooms, beds, windows, trash, ironing, and the science experiment in the back of your fridge.
Your kid watches someone else teach them. Then they go do it.
Below: Real kids helping with real chores. Results not guaranteed. 😉 But sort of…sort of hopefully guaranteed!
My daughter folded the whole family’s laundry so nice and organized!!!
Household Chores Need to Get Done, But Parents Can’t Do It All
Between work, errands, and daily responsibilities, keeping the house clean and teaching kids how to help can feel overwhelming. You know they need to learn these skills, but finding the time (and the patience) to teach them is another story.
Why not get a little help? The Mastering Household Skills Mini-Series offers affordable, high-impact workshops that make learning household responsibilities fun and practical. With expert guidance, kids and teens will gain confidence in cleaning, laundry, and organization—giving them the tools to contribute at home and build lifelong skills.
Have you ever seen a 10 year old ask to pause a video about cleaning your room so he can take notes?
Real-Life Skills Kids Can Apply Immediately
Keeping a household running smoothly takes work, but traditional schooling doesn’t teach kids how to clean, organize, and take care of their space.
And kids and teens crave more independence as they grow… but what can they realistically take on?
The Mastering Household Skills Mini-Series focuses on essential chores, so kids can start helping around the house right away.
With every new skill, they’ll feel more capable, and as a parent, you’ll know exactly what tasks they’re ready to handle.
This workshop had some great tips and practical ways to dust for kids. My 11 year old actually followed up by dusting our dining room, including the light fixture! My kids need to hear reinforcements from another person to help it stick. I appreciate that.

What Your Kid Will Be Able to Do
By the end, your kid can:
- Wash a sink of dishes by hand, in an order that works, without flooding the counter
- Sort a laundry pile by water temperature, read the tags, run the machine, and know what’s not allowed in the dryer
- Get a grease stain out of a shirt instead of hiding the shirt at the bottom of the hamper
- Fold laundry with a system, including the two-year-old, who can absolutely match socks
- Clean a whole bathroom in 15 minutes, counters through floors
- Dust properly, top to bottom, and put things back where they go
- Sweep a room in four steps
- Vacuum well: cords, corners, and all
- Clean a mirror without leaving it streakier than when they started
- Make a bed from the mattress pad up, not just pull the comforter over the lump
- Take out the trash and sort the recycling
- Iron safely, and then iron a dress shirt and pants for when it counts
- Clean out the fridge before anything in it becomes a science project
Every workshop ends with a mission, so none of this stays on the screen.
Included: Your child’s smiling face and look of pride in a job well done!
Just because it’s chores doesn’t mean the workshops are boring!

Got Questions? Here are Your Answers:
Your kid. Every workshop is taught straight to kids, and most parents tell us they picked up a trick or two anyway. You don’t need to be in the room.
Ages 2 through teen. Simple Folds for the Littlest Ones starts at age 2. Most workshops are ages 5 and up. Four are better for ages 8 and up: Climbing Mount Dishes, The Busy Kids’ Guide to Cleaning Your Room FAST, How to Iron a Shirt and Pants, and Cleaning Out the Fridge. The ADHD workshop is also ages 8 and up. Every workshop lists its range, so you always know who to call over.
Between 4 and 24 minutes, 4 hours and 15 minutes for the whole set. You’d watch them one at a time anyway, one chore at a time.
Almost never. These are everyday household items: a broom, a cloth, dish soap, an iron, a basket of dirty laundry. Each workshop lists what to have handy, and there’s a supply shopping list covering all of them.
Because “I know I should do it and I can’t make myself start” is the single most common reason chores don’t get done, and it’s especially true for kids with ADHD brains. Melissa Griffin has ADHD herself and teaches kids how to work with it. Plenty of parents told us the session helped their non-diagnosed kids too!
In a private, ad-free membership area you can get to anytime. Videos are downloadable so you can watch offline, and every workshop includes a printable and a mission.
Yes! It’s a one-time purchase with no subscription, and your access never expires. Your 5-year-old can come back to the ironing workshop at 15.

No. That viral line traces back to a mis-cited article, and the Harvard Grant Study never looked at chores at all. Its real finding is that good relationships keep us happier and healthier.
Chores still matter, though. A study in the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics found that kindergartners who did regular chores rated their own social skills, academics, and life satisfaction higher by third grade. A University of Minnesota study found that helping with household tasks at age 3 or 4 was the best predictor of success in the mid-20s. Katie dug into all of it here.
Younger than you’d think. The University of Minnesota research points to age 3 or 4 as the sweet spot, and the same study found that starting at 15 or 16 backfired. Chores teach kids that they’re capable and needed in the family, and the earlier that lands, the better.
This mini-series starts at age 2 with Simple Folds for the Littlest Ones and runs through the teen years, with most workshops good for ages 5 and up and a handful better for 8 and up.

Teach It Once, and Then Reap The Rewards
Seventeen chores, taught for you, by people your kids will actually listen to. Yours forever, and every chore workshop we add from here on lands in your account free.
We went straight down to wash a load of laundry after watching this. I love how watching these videos gets my kids interested in helping with chores I have failed at teaching them myself.
